Securly Home

There is an issue affecting new-to-HCPS families and families with newly enrolled students in Securly Home. Some are not being automatically registered, which means you may not receive the welcome email, weekly status reports or be able to log in to the parent portal. Existing families should not be affected unless you are trying to view a newly enrolled student.

HCPS is working with Securly to resolve the issue. I will share additional information as it becomes available.

Safety Reminders:

Tardy Procedures on the Horseshoe:

  • Students must be inside the building when the tardy bell rings at 7:40 to be counted on time. There is no exception to this rule.

  • If your child arrives after the tardy bell has rung, you will be directed to park and walk your child to the main entrance to sign in.

Changes to Transportation

  • Permanent changes to a child’s transportation plan must be made by calling the office for assistance.

  • Parents must send the Change of Transportation Form when a change of transportation is needed for one day or a short period of time.

Back to School Night

We are delighted to welcome families to Back to School Night on Thursday, September 10. This is a time to hear from your child’s teacher regarding classroom practices and protocol. The program is for parents and/or guardians only. Parents may pick the session(s) that fit your schedule best and head straight to your child’s classroom through the main school entrance that evening. Session order will be sent to families tomorrow.

Health History Form Reminder

Please be sure that you have completed your child’s health history form which was part of the online form process. Many of our student forms have not been updated.

Middle School Programs Applications for 5th Grade Families

Attention 5th grade families! The application process for middle school programs, such as the TMS IB Program, opens on September 10 and closes on October 5. Ms. Malakoff, one of our school counselors, will be sharing information with 5th grade students and sending additional information home to families this week.

Information about available middle school programs, open houses, important dates and deadlines, and the application process can be found by clicking here.

More information and reminders about the application process will be shared over the next few weeks. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Malakoff.

Scheduled Safety Drills

This section will stay on the Monday message each week so parents are informed about upcoming drills. There will be a Lock and Hide Drill today, cafeteria Lock and Hide practice on 9/1 and a fire drill on 9/1.

Have a great week everyone!

Sincerely,

Sonia Ford, Principal
