Kindergarten Registration is Open!
Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year is now open online, and we are excited to welcome the class of 2039 to TES! Please encourage your friends and neighbors with kindergarten children, as well as families with children new to Tuckahoe Elementary, to register early. The number of teachers assigned to Tuckahoe is based on student enrollment.
We look forward to registering your child, and welcome you to TES. Go Team Tuckahoe!
Please review the following guidelines for registering your child and feel free to contact our main office with questions.
Step 1: The registration process begins online. Please visit the HCPS website at https://www.henricoschools.us/o/hcps/page/registration-enrollment, to begin the registration process.
Complete all three enrollment documents available in the portal.
Enrollment Form-Part 1
Home Language Survey
McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act screening form
Step 2: All successfully submitted enrollments will be reviewed for completeness. Once reviewed, our school’s registrar, Maria Livaniou, will contact you regarding the next steps, which will include scheduling an appointment to meet with the registrar on/after Thursday, April 9, to present additional documents and complete the enrollment process.
We ask that only one adult attend the scheduled appointment due to limited space in our main office. Rising Kindergarten students should not attend this appointment as we will offer a welcome event for students this spring and a Kindergarten Orientation prior to the opening of school in the fall.
Start the online process now —- so you can complete the process on April 9. We are excited to learn how many kindergarten students are coming to school next year!
What additional documents will I need to complete the registration process?
An original, official state-issued birth certificate for your child must be presented in person to the registrar during your in-person meeting.
A current, signed lease agreement (must include name of lease holder, landlord, property address, time period of lease, list of occupants, signatures and date) or a deed or purchase agreement, mortgage statement or a current tax assessment in your name (or in the name of the homeowner/lease holder if you are living “doubled up”).
A photo I.D. for the child’s parent or legal guardian (driver’s license, DMV I.D., military I.D. or other picture I.D.) must be presented in person to the registrar and match your child’s birth certificate.
AND
An additional proof of residency. You must provide:
A current utility bill in your name (dated within the past 30 days).
If you are living “doubled” with another person or family, the homeowner/primary renter and the parent/legal guardian must complete an address affidavit. If you are living “doubled” with another person or family, the homeowner or primary renter must accompany you to school to register the child. Certain verification and forms are also needed from the parent or legal guardian, as well as from the homeowner or primary renter.
Physical exam form (completed and signed by licensed healthcare provider and dated after 8/18/2024) Note: This is not required for registration but must be on file before your child can attend school.
Record of immunizations (signed by licensed healthcare provider and up-to-date) Immunization requirements are available at www.vdh.virginia.gov/immunization/requirements Note: This is not required for registration but must be on file before your child can attend school.
Other considerations for parents and guardians:
Only a natural parent, adoptive parent, court-appointed legal custodian or a person with a military power of attorney may enroll a child in Henrico Schools. (Non-military or traditional powers of attorney are not acceptable.)
A foster parent may enroll a child with the consent of the child’s legal custodian. Foster parents enrolling children in their care must present a copy of the court order at enrollment that identifies the child’s legal custodian.
Please note that Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by Sept. 30 of the school year in which they will begin. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Scheduled Safety Drills
There are no safety drills scheduled for this week.
Sincerely,
Sonia Ford, Principal
